From June 17 to 25, 2026, the "Academic Symposium of the Chinese Forest Biodiversity Monitoring Network (CForBio) and the 20th Anniversary Training Course in Zhuozhou: Inheritance and Outlook" was successfully held in Kaihua, Zhejiang Province. The event was hosted by the Biodiversity Committee of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Forest Network of the China Biodiversity Observation and Research Network (SinoBON).
Established by the Biodiversity Committee of the CAS in 2004, the Chinese Forest Biodiversity Monitoring Network (CForBio) held its inaugural international training course in Zhuozhou, Hebei Province, in 2006. Over the past two decades, CForBio has grown into the world's first large-scale forest dynamic plot network covering complete climate zones, continuously advancing the science of forest biodiversity through long-term monitoring and collaborative research.
The symposium was convened to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the first international training course held in 2006, summarize the scientific research achievements and talent cultivation experience of CForBio over the past two decades, and further promote innovative development and research iteration in the field of forest biodiversity. More than 160 representatives from various CForBio monitoring sites, research institutes, and universities attended the event.
